4 Ways to be Kinder to Your Body

body purity culture Jul 01, 2022

If there is one thing that we can accurately predict time and time again that our clients will struggle with it is this: they are disconnected from their bodies.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that if you came from high demand religion one thing is for sure: you were taught to mistrust your body. Messaging was constantly coming at you that sounded like this:

So what do you do when you grew up being inundated with all of these messages?  Since you've been trained to view your body as a problem to overcome, how in the world do you build back a safe connection to it?

You're probably looking for some complex answer, but we've found it is actually just in simple, daily life that the connection to your body is established again. Here are 4 quick and easy ways you can begin to immediately connect to your body in more loving ways:

  1. Apologize to Your Body: Hold the parts of your body you are mean to have hated. Whisper an apology to each part.
  2. Try Hugging Yourself: Wrap your arms around yourself, especially when you are feeling overwhelmed. Gently rock from side to side for comfort.
  3. Reframe What You See: Whenever you look in the mirror, instead of being unkind, remind yourself that your body is good.
  4. Little Daily RemindersStop what you are doing periodically throughout the day to lightly tap or touch your arm, just to acknowledge that you have a body and you see her

Sending you all of our love on this journey of reconnecting back to your body!
